The Intern

The first half hour of the movie starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway is a thorough and realistic depiction of an e-commerce start up – with excitement, disarray, testing new applications, adaption to lightning-fast changes and the many hats worn by the Founder/Chief Executive Officer/Chief Creative Officer.

The movie also shows how the leader deals with and is sometimes forced to confront growing pains.  Also indicated is the importance of attention to detail to customer service and actually, at the end of the day, that becomes the deciding factor in the future of Anne Hathaway’s character.

My last two blogs dealt with leadership and this movie provides numerous lessons.   It is also enjoyable with two pros and a supporting cast that seems perfectly placed.  And it shows nice people being nice. That, too, is a treat.

    A comment to add is that the first scene shows attention to customer satisfaction and the final scene also addresses details affecting customer satisfaction. It is ALWAYS about the customer!
